Hyderabad: The Commissioner of the GHMC, Ronald Rose, has recently issued an order to prevent any construction work from taking place in the buffer zone and FTL (Full Tank Level) areas of the city lakes. Local authorities are required to identify the illegal buildings and encroachments and proceed against them without waiting for a complaint.
He proposed that town planners should be represented in the activities of the Lake Protection Committee and NAC engineers to find out the constructions that are not allowed. He also cited the prompt response as a priority to any complaints received from the public.
Consequently, reviewing the town planning department, he insisted on the creation of trust and goodwill with the public. Alongside fast-tracking eligible building permission applications through TS-bPASS within 21 days, he has also directed officers to clear all pending online and offline grievances within a week. In addition to the regular program, there will be a focus on resolving the existing legal cases and a monsoon action plan for the upcoming months.
Circle-level leaders were asked to pinpoint the houses with deteriorated condition and adopt appropriate measures to avoid any possible damage. The plan is to go further by preparing a junction improvement plan for ten intersections, after identifying the challenges in that area.
Last year, the HLWBMC had also commenced the work to safeguard 40 lakes with an estimated budget of Rs.72.52 crore. Apart from the fencing and sewer diversion, the beautification of some 30 lakes is also on the cards.
