Hyderabad: QIFLIF Indie Fest with the theme – Queer folks telling queer stories is celebrating queer storytelling, with focus on diversity and inclusivity on May the 19th at WeWork, Kondapur. It promises a day packed with cinematic wonders, artistic expressions, and community engagement.
Commencing at 10:30 am and continuing into the evening, the festival agenda features the screening of five captivating films, complemented by a vibrant pop-up market showcasing the talents of our community members and allies. Following the screenings, attendees can partake in an array of activities including an open mic session, a dazzling drag show, captivating short story readings, and a showcase of literary works by queer authors.
The event will culminate in a spirited blend of stand-up comedy and live music, featuring performances by all queer artists line-up, such as Meherin, Apoorva, Gitanjali, Vyshali, Nique, Nihar, Atulya, Suparna and Abigail, some performing standup while some showcasing their singing talent.
Each film selected explores their experiences, offering diverse perspectives and profound insights. The lineup includes compelling titles such as “Lailaa Manju,” screened at Kashish MQIFF and Kriti Film Club, as well as the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
“Malwa Khushan” portrays the lives of two sisters navigating sexuality and attraction in rural India, earning recognition at KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival 2022, where it won the Best Emerging Indian Filmmaker Award and was also featured at the Dharamshala International Film Festival.
“Life Beyond Chromosomes” and “Sifar” highlight the talents of up-and-coming filmmakers, adding diversity and fresh voices to the film industry.
