“Our Life Is Our Responsibility” — Hero Sai Durgha Tej Shares Emotional Road Safety Message at Traffic Summit 2025
Hyderabad, Sept 19 — The Hyderabad Police organized the Traffic Summit 2025 to raise awareness about traffic rules and road safety. Actor Sai Durgha Tej attended the event as chief guest and donated ₹5 lakh to the police department, delivering an emotional message drawn from his personal experience.
Recalling the life-changing accident he survived in 2021, the actor said, “I was in a coma for two weeks. The only reason I am alive today is because I wore a helmet. That’s why I am standing here. I request every rider and their family members to ensure helmets are worn without fail.”
Tej urged both riders and drivers to prioritize safety. He advised bikers to avoid speeding and car drivers to wear seat belts. “Rules are not just for you, but also for co-passengers and those on the opposite side,” he said.
Opening up about his recovery, the actor revealed he lost his voice, fine motor balance, and even the ability to write after the accident. His mother encouraged him to overcome fear, asking him to first ride in front of their home before venturing onto the road again. Today, Tej still practices safe riding only with a helmet.
He emphasized that film stars should also set an example, citing Kollywood actor Ajith who always wears a helmet during stunt scenes. Tej recalled his early struggles in cinema, traveling on a bike to studios with photos in hand, requesting opportunities.
The actor also saluted the police force, calling them “unsung heroes who give us courage to move fearlessly outside our homes.” His grandfather too had served in the police department.
Stressing that “life is our responsibility,” Tej proposed stronger measures against violators. “Instead of just fines or counseling, community service-type punishments could create greater accountability,” he suggested.
Concluding, the actor reminded citizens that safety lies in their own hands: “If we do wrong, we alone will suffer. Let’s take precautions and keep our loved ones smiling.”
