Swimming competition for kids in city

Hyderabad: Telangana Swimming Association is organizing a swimming championship on May 19 at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Swimming Complex in Secunderabad.

The event is organized by the 7H Sports Foundation to promote swimming at the school level and provide fun summer activities for children who are already busy and under academic pressure. The competition is divided into three age groups that are under 10, under 14 and under 17.

Also, athletes can compete only in four swimming styles – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. The length of each event is 50 meters. The championship is exclusively for non-medalist swimmers, meaning beginners and not established ones. One participant can compete in any of the two events only.

The registration fee is Rs 700, with the deadline set for May 18 and competitors should submit ID cards to establish identity and age.

Participants will be awarded a certificate of participation and winners will also receive a merit certificate. Interested students can contact 9347777794 for more information.

Meanwhile, cricket summer camps are also on the rise in the city. According to media reports, in order to nurture talents from the mandal level, Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has spent Rs 1.50 crore on summer camps. HCA president A Jaganmohan Rao made this statement at an event.

He also said he is fully committed to the development of rural cricket and wishes to see rural cricketers make it into the Indian Premier League.

Multiple other summer camps were also held in the city that were priced anywhere between Rs. 10 to Rs. 60, benefiting kids from low income backgrounds to develop an interest in sport.
