Telangana High Court Cancels Group-1 Recruitment Process

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court has cancelled the Group-1 recruitment conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC). A division bench of the High Court upheld the earlier decision of a single bench, declaring the Group-1 examination process invalid. As a result, the appointments and selection process for 168 candidates have been annulled.

The court pointed out several irregularities in the conduct of the exam, including the use of a general ranking system instead of merit-based evaluation and improper functioning of examination centres. The bench stated that such lapses violate the principles of fair recruitment and transparency.

The High Court emphasized that the preliminary examination should be conducted again to ensure justice for all aspirants. It also noted that Group-1 recruitment conducted in 2011 was cancelled earlier, and similar irregularities were found in the 2022 recruitment as well.

Officials expressed disappointment over the cancellation, noting that it has been 14 years since the last successful Group-1 recruitment. They warned that such repeated cancellations could harm the credibility of the state’s recruitment process and delay the filling of crucial government posts.

The Advocate General stated that the government is considering appealing the decision to a higher court. Meanwhile, candidates and coaching centre representatives welcomed the judgment, calling it a victory for merit and transparency.
