The Hyderabad Narsingi police recently arrested Chandoo Sai, a well-known YouTuber celebrated for his ‘ Pakkinti Kurradu ‘ videos and ‘Dhagad’ web series, on serious allegations of rape and cheating. The case, filed under sections 420 and 376 (2) (n) IPC and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, traces back to an incident on April 25, 2021, coinciding with Sai’s birthday.
According to reports, the victim, who initially connected with Chandoo Sai through social media, narrated a troubling sequence of events. She alleged that after proposing marriage, Sai invited her to his residence on her birthday, leading to sexual relations under the guise of a forthcoming marriage. This interaction marked the beginning of a cohabitation arrangement.
As the relationship progressed, it’s claimed that Chandoo Sai took the victim’s gold jewelry, using it as collateral for a loan, while his family demanded an exorbitant dowry. The situation escalated when the family later renounced the marriage, reportedly demeaning the victim on caste grounds and forcing her out of Sai’s residence.
The involvement of Chandoo Sai’s family members in the case adds a layer of complexity. His parents, sister, and brother-in-law face accusations of both mental and physical abuse toward the victim and her family. During the investigation, Sai reportedly admitted to the allegations.
Given the gravity of the charges, especially under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner has appointed the assistant commissioner of police of the Narsingi Division to oversee the investigation. The victim’s testimony was officially recorded, and she underwent medical tests at a government hospital.
Chandu Sai’s arrest and charges have attracted a lot of attention due to his popularity as a YouTuber. He is currently in judicial custody, awaiting further legal proceedings. This case highlights the growing concern about the misuse of social media systems in personal relationships and the serious implications of such practices.
