India’s First Solar Bus Station Inaugurated in Surat, Gujarat

India’s first-ever solar bus station has been inaugurated in Surat, Gujarat. Built at a cost of ₹1.60 crore by Surat Municipal Corporation, this state-of-the-art facility is located at the Tap Solar Power Plant in Indulal Park.

This green initiative is powered by a solar system installed on the rooftop of the bus station, enabling 24-hour green charging for buses. It is equipped with modern infrastructure, including solar panels, a network line, battery storage, and charging stations for electric buses.

This groundbreaking project was undertaken in collaboration with the Surat Smart City initiative, highlighting the city’s commitment to sustainability and clean energy solutions in public transport.
