DRDO Successfully Tests UAV-Launched Precision-Guided Missile ULPGM-V3

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested the UAV-Launched Precision-Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3, a significant advancement in the country’s defence capabilities. The test was conducted at the Open Air Range (NOAR) in Odisha.

Key Features and Objectives:

  • ULPGM-V3 is an advanced version of the earlier ULPGM-V2, with improved targeting and guidance systems.
  • It is equipped with dual-channel seekers for better accuracy and effectiveness.
  • The missile is designed to meet critical battlefield needs, capable of engaging a wide range of targets.

Technical Highlights:

  • Effective range: 4 km; blast radius: 2.5 km.
  • Operates on high-end “fire-and-forget” technology.
  • Designed to cause minimal collateral damage while ensuring precise target neutralization.

Development Collaboration:

Several DRDO labs collaborated in this project, including DRDL, RCI, TBRL, HEMRL, and ITR. The UAV platforms were developed by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), in coordination with public sector units and MSMEs.
