PM Modi Inaugurates Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow on Vajpayee’s 101st Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on 26 December 2025, marking the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The national memorial has been envisioned as a centre of inspiration to preserve and pass on the ideals of Indian nationalism, good governance, and selfless leadership to future generations.

Developed across 65 acres in the Vasant Kunj area of Lucknow, the memorial reflects India’s ideological and political journey rooted in public service. At its heart stand 65-foot-tall bronze statues of three iconic leaders—Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, and Deendayal Upadhyaya—symbolising their lasting contributions to India’s governance, nationalism, and social thought.

A major highlight of the complex is the lotus-shaped museum, spread over nearly 98,000 square feet. Using modern digital and immersive technologies, the museum showcases India’s democratic evolution, key milestones in nation-building, and the lives and philosophies of the three leaders.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, remembering him as a visionary statesman, eloquent parliamentarian, and gifted poet. Awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2015, Vajpayee’s legacy of inclusive development, consensus politics, and strong democratic values continues to shape modern India.
