India has achieved a remarkable milestone as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands set a Guinness World Record for unfurling the largest underwater national flag. The event took place on May 3, 2026, at Radhanagar Beach, one of the country’s most प्रसिद्ध coastal destinations.
The massive Indian Tricolour, measuring 60 × 40 metres, was carefully deployed beneath the sea in a highly coordinated operation. The achievement was officially recognized by Guinness World Records, marking a proud moment of national celebration.
The operation involved over 200 trained divers and multiple agencies, including the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, police, and forest department. Their coordinated effort ensured the safe and precise unfurling of the flag underwater.
Adding a special touch to the event, young divers—including school students—participated in the historic moment, symbolizing youth involvement and patriotic spirit.
Beyond national pride, the event is expected to boost tourism in Swaraj Dweep, highlighting it as a premier destination for scuba diving and marine adventure. The global recognition is likely to attract more visitors and strengthen the region’s tourism-driven economy.
