India is witnessing a major infrastructure transformation through large-scale central government projects across highways, railways, airports, industrial corridors, ports, energy plants, and urban development sectors. Recent government data shows that states such as Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh are leading in the number of centrally funded projects aimed at boosting economic growth and regional connectivity.

Maharashtra tops the list with 215 projects worth around ₹5.5 trillion, supported by its strong industrial base, financial importance, and extensive port and transport infrastructure. Uttar Pradesh ranks second with 180 projects valued at approximately ₹4.3 trillion, driven by expressways, railway modernization, and defence corridor development. Gujarat also recorded investments worth ₹4.3 trillion across 127 projects, highlighting its role as a major manufacturing and logistics hub.

Central and eastern states such as Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand are also witnessing significant infrastructure expansion through mining, railway, industrial, and energy-related projects. In the Northeast, Assam leads the region with 89 projects worth ₹1.2 trillion, focusing on connectivity and transportation improvements.

These projects are expected to strengthen India’s logistics network, improve regional connectivity, create employment opportunities, and support industrial development. With nationwide investments nearing ₹42 trillion, the infrastructure push is considered a key pillar of India’s long-term economic growth and modernization strategy.
