New Delhi, May 31: In a significant initiative aimed at bringing India’s creative community into the mainstream of democratic discourse, the All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) on Sunday announced the launch of its national Arts & Culture Domain, appointing noted designer and communication strategist Pallavi Nayak as its National Head.
The newly launched platform, operating under the theme “Art for Democracy,” seeks to create a nationwide network of artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, performers, designers and cultural practitioners committed to strengthening democratic values through creative expression and public engagement.
The initiative comes at a time when questions surrounding freedom of expression, social cohesion and citizen participation continue to shape public debate across the country. AIPC leaders believe the arts can serve as a powerful medium for dialogue, bridge-building and democratic participation.
Announcing the launch, AIPC Chairman Praveen Chakravarty said that democracy thrives not only through institutions and elections but also through culture, imagination and collective storytelling. He noted that artists have historically played a vital role in challenging social barriers, inspiring change and fostering conversations that bring communities together.
“The arts help societies ask difficult questions, preserve diverse voices and imagine better futures,” Chakravarty said, adding that the new platform aims to provide a vibrant space where creativity and citizenship can work together to strengthen democratic values.
As National Head of the Arts & Culture Domain, Pallavi Nayak will spearhead the organization’s efforts to engage India’s creative ecosystem through exhibitions, performances, cultural collaborations, public programmes and nationwide campaigns.
With over twenty-five years of experience in design and communication, Nayak has worked extensively at the intersection of creativity, storytelling and social impact. Her appointment is expected to provide strategic direction to the initiative as it seeks to build meaningful connections between artists, institutions and citizens.
Speaking on her appointment, Nayak described art as one of humanity’s most powerful tools for reflection, dialogue and social transformation. She said the platform would work to bring together artists and cultural practitioners from across the country to celebrate diversity, encourage civic participation and contribute to the strengthening of democratic ideals.
She also expressed gratitude to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for consistently supporting the voices of artists, creators and young Indians, while acknowledging the trust placed in her by the AIPC leadership.
Political observers view the launch as part of a broader effort by the Congress ecosystem to engage professionals, intellectuals and cultural leaders in public life beyond conventional political platforms. The initiative reflects an understanding that cultural engagement remains an important pillar of democratic society and public participation.
The Arts & Culture Domain is expected to begin building a nationwide network of creative professionals and cultural institutions in the coming months, with a focus on promoting dialogue, artistic collaboration and civic engagement through the power of art, culture and storytelling.
As India’s cultural landscape continues to evolve alongside its political and social realities, the AIPC’s latest initiative seeks to place artists and creators at the heart of conversations shaping the country’s democratic future.
