Hyderabad: A potentially major fire accident was averted at A4 Tower of Janapriya Sitara residential complex in Kapra after the security team responded swiftly and brought the situation under control.

The incident occurred at around 6:15 PM, when a fire broke out inside the A4 Tower premises. A few children who noticed the incident immediately alerted Srinivasa Raju, Managing Director of SR Commando Security & Facility Services, just as he was about to leave the premises.

Responding without delay, security personnel Raju, Ramesh, Ramulu and Noorullah rushed to the affected area. As the door was locked, the team broke it open and initiated emergency firefighting measures.

The team first deployed a DCP fire extinguisher to control the flames and heavy smoke. After identifying the electrical nature of the fire, they used a CO₂ fire extinguisher to safely extinguish it and prevent further escalation.

According to Srinivasa Raju, the team’s prompt response, proper training, presence of mind and use of appropriate firefighting techniques played a crucial role in preventing what could have developed into a major disaster. He commended the personnel for their courage, discipline and professionalism, noting that their timely intervention significantly reduced the risk to residents and property.

Following the incident, SR Commando Security & Facility Services announced that a comprehensive Fire Safety Policy and Emergency Response Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) would shortly be implemented across all towers to strengthen emergency preparedness and resident safety.

The incident comes amid growing fire-safety concerns across Hyderabad. On June 4, 2026, a major blaze struck a commercial building at West Srinivasanagar near Maitrivanam in Ameerpet, renewing scrutiny over ageing electrical systems, excessive power loads and Fire NOC compliance. Earlier this year, fire incidents were also reported at the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory in Nampally, Aditya Enclave near Maitrivanam Junction in Ameerpet, KPHB Colony in Kukatpally, and a mobile-accessories shop at Padmavathi Plaza Centre in Kukatpally.

The scale of the concern is significant, with Hyderabad recording 765 fire incidents in the first five months of 2026, reportedly the highest among Telangana districts. Electrical faults have remained among the major causes of fire incidents statewide, reinforcing the urgent need for periodic electrical audits, functional firefighting equipment, trained emergency teams and stricter safety inspections.

The Kapra incident once again highlights how trained personnel, functioning firefighting equipment and immediate response can prevent a localised fire from escalating into a major tragedy.

Preparedness, Presence of Mind, and Prompt Action Save Lives.
