New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the formation of a high-powered Exam Security Task Force to strengthen India’s examination system and prevent paper leaks, impersonation, cyber fraud, and other malpractices. The committee will recommend technology-driven reforms to make national-level competitive examinations more secure, transparent, and credible.
The six-member task force will be chaired by Infosys Co-founder Nandan Nilekani and includes experts from education, technology, administration, science, and internal security. Other members are Amrit Lal Meena, Anita Karwal, Dr. V. Kamakoti, S. Somanath, and Tapan Deka.
The committee has been tasked with proposing long-term reforms, including AI-based monitoring of examination centres, biometric verification of candidates, encrypted digital question paper delivery, real-time surveillance, enhanced cybersecurity, and improved logistics for conducting examinations.
Nandan Nilekani, known for leading the Aadhaar project as the founding Chairman of UIDAI, brings extensive experience in digital governance and large-scale technology implementation. His leadership is expected to help modernize India’s examination ecosystem.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns over examination integrity and aims to restore public confidence in recruitment and entrance examinations such as UPSC, SSC, NEET, JEE, CUET, Banking, and Railway recruitment exams. The task force is expected to play a key role in building a secure, transparent, and technology-enabled examination framework for the future.
