Aarogya Setu 2.0 Launched as Personal Health Record App Under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launched Aarogya Setu 2.0 and several digital health initiatives on 29 June 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Originally introduced in 2020 as a COVID-19 contact-tracing application, Aarogya Setu has now been transformed into a Personal Health Record (PHR) app under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

The upgraded app enables users to create and manage their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), securely access and share digital health records with consent, and use a scan-and-share feature for faster registration at healthcare facilities. It serves as a single digital gateway for managing health information and accessing government health schemes.

Alongside Aarogya Setu 2.0, the government also launched the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) to streamline health insurance claims, the Drug Registry, Common LOINC Codes for India (CLCI), and the Bharat Health Terminology Service (BHTS) to strengthen India’s digital healthcare ecosystem. Additionally, Health Information Provider (HIP) registration has been made mandatory for NABH-accredited and state-empanelled healthcare facilities, marking another step toward an integrated, interoperable, and efficient digital health system in India.
