DIKSHA: India’s One Nation, One Digital Platform for School Education

By Soniya:

Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) is India’s national digital platform for school education, launched in 2017 to provide quality learning resources for students, teachers, and parents. Managed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) with support from the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), DIKSHA has been positioned by the Central Government as “One Nation, One Digital Platform” for school education as of 28 June 2026.

The platform offers curriculum-aligned digital content from the Foundational Stage to Class 12, with education boards across nearly all States and Union Territories contributing localized learning materials through a federated model. DIKSHA supports learning in 36 Indian languages and 7 foreign languages, featuring QR-coded Energised Textbooks, educational videos, 2D and 3D animations, augmented reality content, virtual labs, and Indian Sign Language resources.

Beyond student learning, DIKSHA plays a vital role in teacher professional development through programmes like NISHTHA, offering self-paced online training and certification. It also promotes inclusive education with DAISY-formatted content, text-to-speech tools, and sign language videos for differently-abled learners. With both online and offline access, DIKSHA ensures uninterrupted digital education even in areas with limited internet connectivity, making it a cornerstone of India’s digital education ecosystem.
