G7 Countries and Their Leaders in 2026: Members, Representatives and Key Facts

By Soniya:

The Group of Seven (G7) remains one of the world’s most influential forums, bringing together leading advanced economies to discuss key global issues such as economic growth, trade, security, climate change, technology, and international cooperation. The 52nd G7 Summit is being held from June 15–17, 2026, in Évian-les-Bains, France, under the presidency of France.

The G7 consists of seven member countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. While not an official member, the European Union (EU) also participates in all G7 discussions through its institutional leadership.

In 2026, the leaders representing the G7 nations are Mark Carney (Canada), Emmanuel Macron (France), Friedrich Merz (Germany), Giorgia Meloni (Italy), Shigeru Ishiba (Japan), Keir Starmer (United Kingdom), and Donald Trump (United States). The European Union is represented by Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa.

Key topics at the 2026 summit include global economic stability, artificial intelligence, energy security, supply chain resilience, the Ukraine conflict, critical minerals, and support for developing economies facing debt challenges. France has also invited several outreach countries and international organizations, including India, to participate in discussions.

Although the G7 does not make legally binding decisions, its members collectively account for a significant share of global GDP, trade, technological innovation, and financial influence, making the forum an important platform for shaping international policy and cooperation.
