India Launches First Official F1 Sim Racing Championship 2026

India has entered the world of competitive virtual motorsport with the launch of the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026, its first official Formula 1 sim racing championship. The initiative is being introduced by Formula 1 in partnership with Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited, creating a structured national platform for aspiring sim racers.

This is the first time Formula 1 has launched an India-exclusive sim racing programme. The competition will be conducted on the official F1 video game, featuring online qualifiers, city-level competitions, and a final national round in Mumbai.

The championship aims to bridge the gap between esports and real-world motorsport. Sim racing allows participants to develop racing skills such as strategy, reaction time, and technical understanding without the high costs associated with traditional racing. This creates an accessible entry point for young Indian talent into professional motorsport.

The launch also reflects the growing popularity of Formula 1 and esports in India, supported by recent regulatory recognition under the country’s gaming framework. Overall, the initiative is expected to strengthen India’s motorsport ecosystem and open new pathways for future racing talent.
