The National AI Doctors Mission (NAIDM) was officially launched at Health AI Con 2026 in New Delhi on 17 May 2026 to strengthen Artificial Intelligence (AI) training among medical professionals in India.
The initiative is a doctor-led programme conceptualised by Medical Dialogues in collaboration with the National Medical Forum. It aims to equip doctors with AI knowledge, practical digital healthcare skills, and ethical understanding for the safe use of emerging technologies in clinical practice.
The mission focuses on areas such as AI-powered diagnosis support, medical imaging analysis, digital triage systems, workflow automation, and clinical decision-making tools. It also seeks to build awareness about responsible AI usage, patient safety, and clinical accountability.
NAIDM aligns with major national initiatives including Digital India, the National Digital Health Mission, and the vision of Viksit Bharat. The programme is expected to help create a structured learning pathway for doctors as AI adoption increases across India’s healthcare ecosystem.
The mission also addresses growing concerns around AI governance, ethical healthcare technology use, and the need for standardised AI literacy among medical professionals.
The National Medical Commission (NMC), established under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, continues to play a key role in regulating medical education and healthcare standards in India.
