During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the prolonged struggle of the victims, many of whom continue to await closure nearly a decade after the 2017 incident that drew national attention and triggered widespread debate on custodial violence, human rights, and accountability within law enforcement agencies.
The representatives informed the Minister and the Advocate General that despite the passage of several years, the victims continue to seek meaningful justice and remain hopeful that the present government will address their long-pending grievances.

The Nerella case remains one of the most discussed human rights issues in Telangana’s recent history. The allegations of custodial torture in 2017 led to widespread condemnation from civil society organizations, human rights groups, legal activists, and political leaders across party lines. Several national figures, including former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, had expressed solidarity with the victims and sought accountability.
Members of the delegation stated that the latest discussions have renewed confidence among the victims, who continue to place their faith in the democratic and legal processes. They expressed hope that the assurances given during the meeting would translate into concrete action in the near future.
The delegation thanked Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar and Advocate General Sudarshan Reddy for granting them an opportunity to present the concerns of the victims and reiterated their commitment to pursuing justice through constitutional and legal means.
With renewed attention from both political and legal quarters, the affected families are now looking forward to meaningful progress in a case that has come to symbolize the broader struggle for human rights, accountability, and justice in Telangana.
