The Sugamya Bharat App (SBA) is a key digital initiative by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to improve accessibility for people with disabilities and the elderly. Since its launch in 2021, and especially after its revamp, the app has seen 83,000+ downloads and helped resolve 1,897 complaints of access barriers across India.
The app allows users to report inaccessible locations using geo-tagged photos, provides AI chatbot support, and shares information on government schemes. It reflects India’s growing push for inclusive, tech-driven governance.
