TribeX Digital Learning Platform Launched to Preserve India’s Tribal Heritage and Indigenous Knowledge

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram launched the TribeX digital learning platform on 7 July 2026 during the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The platform aims to preserve, promote, and digitally disseminate India’s rich tribal arts, languages, culture, and indigenous knowledge.

TribeX currently offers 20 free certificate courses covering tribal paintings, handicrafts, and traditional musical instruments. It also provides UGC-recognised postgraduate diploma programmes in tribal languages, art forms, crafts, and indigenous knowledge systems, developed in collaboration with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi.

Designed to connect learners with tribal knowledge holders and master artisans, the platform includes a digital heritage archive containing over 5,000 multimedia resources, including audio recordings, videos, photographs, and literature. The government plans to expand the platform to offer more than 100 courses and over 10,000 digital resources in the future.

The initiative supports the documentation, preservation, and promotion of India’s tribal heritage while making traditional knowledge accessible to students, researchers, and the general public through digital technology. It also strengthens the role of Tribal Research Institutes in research, education, and policy support for tribal communities across the country.
