UAE Launches World’s First U6GHz Network, Becomes First “10 Giga” Nation

The United Arab Emirates has achieved a major milestone in digital infrastructure by launching the world’s first commercial upper 6GHz (U6GHz) internet network. Announced at the SAMENA Council Leaders’ Summit 2026, the initiative positions the UAE as the first “10 giga” nation, marking a significant leap in next-generation connectivity.

The U6GHz spectrum, operating in the 6425–7125 MHz range, is considered a “golden band” due to its ability to offer both wide coverage and high data capacity. This enables seamless connectivity even in high-traffic environments, making it ideal for modern digital ecosystems.

Powered by advanced 5G architecture, the network delivers ultra-fast speeds of up to 10 Gbps download and 1 Gbps upload. It also ensures low latency, which is crucial for technologies like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and real-time digital applications.

The rollout follows a phased approach, with spectrum allocation in 2024, successful field trials in 2025, and full commercial deployment in 2026. The project is led by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority in collaboration with global telecom partners.

This development not only enhances current internet capabilities but also lays the foundation for future 6G technologies. It is expected to accelerate innovations in smart cities, autonomous systems, and digital services, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global leader in technological advancement.
