The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new digital service that allows Aadhaar holders to add or update their email ID directly through the official Aadhaar App, eliminating the need to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Available from 1 July 2026, the service is free for six months, making Aadhaar updates faster and more convenient.
The initiative has received an overwhelming response, with over 2.5 lakh users updating their email IDs within just two days of its launch. The Aadhaar App also enables users to update their mobile number, address, and access other eligible Aadhaar services digitally. According to UIDAI, more than 40 lakh mobile number updates and 10 lakh address updates have already been completed through the app.
To update an email ID, users simply need to log into the official Aadhaar App, select the Email Update option, enter the new email address, complete the verification process, and submit the request. The move reflects UIDAI’s continued efforts to expand digital, citizen-centric services and encourage residents to keep their Aadhaar information up to date.
