US Government Releases Classified UAP and UFO Records in 2026

By Soniya:

The United States government has begun releasing classified and previously classified records related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs. The disclosures involve multiple agencies, including the Pentagon, NASA, FBI, Department of Energy, Director of National Intelligence, and the White House.

UAP is the official term used by the US government for unexplained objects or events observed in the sky, space, or underwater. The term replaced the older phrase “Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs)” in official documents and investigations.

The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), responsible for analysing UAP reports, started releasing new files on 8 May 2026. The released documents include sensor data from Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets and a 2019 memorandum related to alleged UAP crash retrieval programmes. Earlier, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy had published records from 2012–2026 on 29 April 2026.

In February 2026, President Donald Trump directed federal agencies to identify and release records linked to extraterrestrial life and UAPs. The administration also registered the domains alien.gov and aliens.gov in March 2026, further increasing public interest.

AARO has announced plans to standardise UAP reporting and expand collaboration with researchers and academic institutions. However, the agency’s March 2024 historical report stated that there is still no confirmed evidence of alien technology or extraterrestrial activity.

The latest disclosures reflect growing transparency in US government investigations into unexplained aerial phenomena and renewed public interest in the subject.
