VB-G RAM G Act 2025 Comes into Force: Rural Employment Guarantee Increased to 125 Days

By Soniya:

The Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025 came into force on 1 July 2026, introducing a strengthened framework for rural employment and livelihood security. The landmark legislation increases the statutory wage employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days per financial year for every eligible rural household, with a greater focus on sustainable development, durable asset creation, and transparent governance.

The Act emphasizes rural infrastructure development, water conservation, natural resource management, agriculture, and women’s empowerment through increased participation of Self Help Groups (SHGs). It also introduces technology-driven implementation to improve transparency and accountability while ensuring better convergence with other flagship rural development programmes.

To support the nationwide rollout, the Central Government has allocated ₹95,692.31 crore for timely wage payments and uninterrupted execution of works. Existing job cards will remain valid during the transition until new Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Cards are issued. The national launch of the mission is scheduled in Mukkavaripalli village, Andhra Pradesh, where the government will officially launch the scheme, distribute new job cards, and outline its vision for inclusive rural development under Viksit Bharat @2047.
