Zubeen Garg, the legendary Assamese singer, composer, and actor, left an indelible mark on Indian music. Born on 18 November 1972 in Tura, Meghalaya, Zubeen became a symbol of Assamese pride and artistic brilliance. Trained in classical and folk music, he began his journey with the Assamese album Anamika (1992), later conquering Bollywood with his chart-topping hit Ya Ali from Gangster (2006).
Over a career spanning more than three decades, he recorded over 38,000 songs in 40+ languages, blending emotion and versatility like few others could. Beyond music, Zubeen was also an actor, director, and humanitarian — known for his fearless voice and compassion for people.
He passed away tragically on 19 September 2025 in Singapore at age 52, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire millions. His music, especially Mayabini Raatir Bukut, remains the eternal heartbeat of Assam.
