India has been re-elected to both the Council of Administration (CA) and the Postal Operations Council (POC) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) at the 28th UPU Congress in Dubai. The achievement reflects global recognition of India Post’s reforms, digital innovations, and leadership in the postal sector.
Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia said the re-election showcases India’s growing global stature under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, supported by diplomatic efforts of External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
As a UPU member since 1876, India has consistently contributed to strengthening global postal cooperation. India Post’s initiatives in digital financial inclusion, e-commerce integration, and postal modernisation have enhanced its reputation worldwide.
The UPU, a specialised UN agency with 192 member countries, oversees international postal policy and operations. India’s presence in both the CA and POC ensures continued influence in shaping postal governance, regulations, and digital transformation globally.
