Global Food Regulators Summit 2025 in New Delhi: Strengthening Food Safety and Sustainable Systems

The Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) 2025 was held in New Delhi from September 26 to 27, organised by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Running alongside World Food India 2025, the summit focused on evolving food systems and fostering global collaboration for safer food standards.

The theme, Evolving Food Systems Yatha Annam Tatha Manah, highlighted the connection between food quality and overall well-being—mental, physical, and social. GFRS 2025 provided a platform for global regulators to harmonise food safety standards, enhance risk assessment, and explore technological advancements to protect consumer health, promote fair trade, and support sustainable food systems.

FSSAI’s leadership played a pivotal role in advancing food safety in India and worldwide. The summit featured eight plenary sessions with participation from international organisations like WHO, Codex, FAO, and EFSA, facilitating knowledge exchange among regulators, scientists, and policymakers.

A highlight was the launch of the Eat Right Thali book, celebrating India’s rich culinary heritage and balanced diets. The initiative promotes traditional eating practices to combat lifestyle diseases such as obesity.

GFRS 2025, the third edition hosted by India, underscored the country’s growing role as a global food safety hub. The event reinforced the importance of international cooperation to build safer, resilient, and inclusive food systems worldwide.
