Surya Midha, an Indian-origin entrepreneur, has emerged as one of the youngest billionaires in the world, achieving the milestone at the age of 22. He appeared in the Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2026 with an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion, drawing comparisons with tech pioneers such as Mark Zuckerberg who achieved billionaire status at a similarly young age.
Midha is the co-founder of the AI hiring startup Mercor, which he launched in 2023 along with Brendan Foody and Adarsh Hiremath. The company focuses on transforming recruitment by using artificial intelligence to automate resume screening, conduct AI-based interviews and match candidates with suitable job roles. The platform aims to reduce hiring time and improve efficiency for companies.
Born in Mountain View, California, Midha grew up in San Jose and showed strong academic and debating abilities during his school years at Bellarmine College Preparatory. He later joined Georgetown University to study Foreign Service but took an academic break in 2023 to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions.
The startup quickly gained investor attention, and in October 2025 Mercor raised $350 million in funding, pushing its valuation to $10 billion. The rapid growth of the company has placed Surya Midha among a new generation of tech entrepreneurs reshaping global industries through AI-driven innovation.
