NBA Launches Short-Term Biodiversity Internship Programme for Students

The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has launched a short-term internship programme of up to three months to provide practical exposure to undergraduate and postgraduate students in biodiversity conservation. The initiative focuses on hands-on, project-based learning by involving interns directly in ongoing conservation activities, helping bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application.

Alongside this, the NBA continues its flagship Biodiversity Samrakshan Internship Programme (BSIP), a long-term initiative that places selected interns across State Biodiversity Boards and Union Territory Biodiversity Councils. These interns actively contribute to awareness programmes, field studies, and biodiversity management efforts, gaining valuable field experience.

Implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the United Nations Development Programme, the programme aims to build a skilled pool of young professionals in biodiversity governance. Overall, the initiative is expected to enhance environmental awareness, strengthen conservation efforts, and improve career opportunities for students while nurturing future biodiversity ambassadors.
