The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has been recognized as India’s top-performing container port in the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2025, jointly published by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence. The port improved its global ranking to 22nd place, strengthening its position among the world’s most efficient container ports.
JNPA retained its status as India’s leading container port for another consecutive year, reflecting significant improvements in vessel turnaround time, cargo handling speed, and overall operational efficiency. The port has also been identified as one of the world’s most improved ports over the past six years.
Among Indian ports, Pipavav Port secured the 28th position and emerged as the country’s highest-ranked private container port, overtaking Mundra Port, which slipped to 30th place. Visakhapatnam Port ranked 104th globally.
The Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) measures port efficiency based on factors such as vessel turnaround time, cargo handling performance, logistics effectiveness, and supply chain reliability. Higher rankings indicate faster and more efficient port operations, making ports more attractive for global trade and investment.
Globally, China dominated the rankings, with Fuzhou Port securing the top position, followed by Dalian Port and Salalah Port in Oman.
JNPA’s strong performance highlights India’s growing maritime capabilities and supports the country’s ambition of becoming a major global logistics and trade hub.
