Hyderabad, June 18: Leaders and members of the All India Professional Congress (AIPC) joined the ongoing Chakra Satyagraha at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, expressing concern over what they described as growing challenges to constitutional values, democratic accountability, and social justice. The protest emphasized the need to safeguard constitutional rights and ensure justice for every citizen through peaceful and democratic means.
The gathering witnessed the participation of AIPC Civil Society National Head Ms. Navika Harshea, AIPC State President Dr. Aditya Jilala, Senior AIPC Leader Irfan Aziz, Sangram Member Raghavendra, Shashank Pasupuleti, MSME State Head of All India Professional Congress, Abdulla Bakaran, Deputy State Head of the AIPC MSME Wing, along with AIPC members, activists, and representatives of civil society.
The protest, inspired by Gandhian ideals of truth and non-violence, focused on issues of injustice, protection of constitutional rights, and strengthening democratic institutions. Participants stated that the Constitution remains the foundation of India’s democracy and that every citizen has a responsibility to uphold and defend its principles.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Navika Harshea said that constitutional values must remain above partisan interests and called upon citizens to actively participate in protecting democratic institutions.
Dr. Aditya Jilala, AIPC State President, described the Chakra Satyagraha as a peaceful movement dedicated to justice, equality, and public accountability. He emphasized that democracy can thrive only when constitutional rights are respected and citizens remain engaged in public affairs.
Senior AIPC Leader Irfan Aziz stated that peaceful democratic movements have historically played a vital role in safeguarding people’s rights and ensuring that public institutions remain accountable. He called for greater public awareness regarding constitutional protections and democratic participation.
During the protest, several speakers referred to the recent discussions surrounding senior Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan and her reported refusal of a Rajya Sabha seat, describing it as an example of prioritizing principles and public service over political positions. Speakers said such actions reinforce the values of integrity, sacrifice, and commitment to democratic ideals.
Raghavendra, representing Sangram, stressed that injustice against any section of society ultimately weakens democratic institutions. He urged citizens to stand united in defense of constitutional rights and social harmony.
Shashank Pasupuleti, MSME State Head of AIPC, stated that the Constitution guarantees justice, liberty, equality, and dignity to every citizen. He emphasized that protecting these rights is a collective responsibility and called for greater awareness of constitutional safeguards and legal rights.
Abdulla Bakaran, Deputy State Head of the AIPC MSME Wing, highlighted the importance of inclusive development and economic empowerment. He noted that strong democratic institutions and constitutional governance are essential for the growth of MSMEs and the overall progress of the nation.
Throughout the event, participants reiterated that the Chakra Satyagraha is a movement against injustice and a call to strengthen democratic accountability through peaceful constitutional methods. The leaders collectively appealed to citizens to remain vigilant, uphold democratic values, and work towards a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.
The protest concluded with a pledge to continue advocating for constitutional rights, transparency, social justice, and democratic governance while following the path of non-violent civic engagement inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.
