India vs Pakistan Global Rankings 2026: Economy, Military, HDI, Education & Innovation Compared

India and Pakistan, two neighboring South Asian nations with a shared history, have followed different development paths over the decades. In 2026, India continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, outperforming Pakistan across most global indices, including economic strength, military capability, innovation, education, and human development.

India ranks 6th in nominal GDP and 3rd in GDP (PPP), while Pakistan ranks much lower, reflecting the significant gap in economic size and growth. In military strength, India holds the 4th position in the Global Firepower Index, supported by advanced defense capabilities and indigenous military development, compared to Pakistan’s 12th rank.

India also performs better in the Human Development Index (HDI), Global Innovation Index, and higher education, with globally recognized institutions such as the IITs, IIMs, and IISc driving research and innovation. However, in the World Happiness Report, Pakistan ranks slightly higher than India, largely due to stronger perceived social support and community relationships.

Overall, the 2026 global rankings highlight India’s growing influence as an economic, technological, and strategic power, while Pakistan continues to face challenges in economic development and human capital. The comparison underscores the contrasting trajectories of the two countries across key global performance indicators.
