The IMD-H has declared yellow warning for 18 districts in Telangana where the heat wave conditions are expected to prevail. The daytime temperature may reach a maximum of 44 degrees Celsius.

The people have been advised to drink enough water when convenient, even if they do not feel thirsty. Consume oral rehydration solution (ORS), and drink homemade drinks like lemon water, butter milk/lassi with a little bit of salt, fruit juices and etc.

People are asked to bring water during their trips, eat water foods and vegetables during the period of their seasons like water melon, musk melon, orange, grapes, pineapple, cucumber, lettuce or local foods and vegetables, avoid the direct sun and heat waves. Shut windows and curtains during the daytime, particularly the sunny side of the house. Open the windows when it is cold to let fresh air in the house.

If there is a necessity to be outdoors, it is recommended to limit the outdoor activity to morning and evening time when it is cooler. Do not spend your time in sun, particularly in the morning and midday. It is better to avoid tough workouts while in the open air in the afternoon.

The officials have appealed to the public to reduce the amount of time they spend barefoot and avoid cooking outside during peak summer hours. Open doors and windows to keep the air circulating in the cooking area well.
