In a significant boost to India’s agricultural exports, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first commercial sea shipment of premium Banganapalle mangoes from India to Singapore on 25 June 2026. The 5-metric-tonne consignment was exported by Osum Food Solutions LLP and marks a major milestone in expanding India’s fresh fruit exports through cost-effective sea freight.
The mangoes were sourced from Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)-certified orchards in Andhra Pradesh and processed at an APEDA-recognized packhouse in Karnataka. The initiative was supported by the ICAR–Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH), Lucknow, which contributed expertise in post-harvest handling and quality management.
Shipped on 11 June and delivered to Singapore on 24 June, the consignment arrived in excellent condition, demonstrating the effectiveness of cold-chain logistics and scientific storage practices. The export also benefited farmers, who received around ₹50 per kilogram for their produce, nearly double the domestic market price of ₹25–26 per kilogram.
Banganapalle, a premium mango variety from Andhra Pradesh, is widely known for its sweetness, texture, and export quality. The successful shipment highlights India’s growing capabilities in horticultural exports and strengthens its presence in international fruit markets such as Singapore.
