Hyderabad: In an incident that triggered terror, a leopard was sighted roaming around near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad late on Saturday night, April 27. Putting the airport authorities on high alert ever since, efforts are on to catch the four-legged wild animal.
The leopard’s movements were also captured on a CCTV camera as it tried to jump over the fence near the aircraft repairs section of the airport. Thankfully, none of the workers have been attacked.
The airport workers spotted the leopard and informed the security personnel who checked the CCTV cameras and confirmed the presence of the big cat. They have also alerted the forest department officials, who have set up a cage for the leopard. Once it is captured, it will be sent to the rescue settlement.
In light of this incident, the officials have asked the local residents and airport staff to be vigilant. Any other sightings of the wild animal are to be reported to the police officials who will take steps according to the latest information available to them.
That said, it is important to understand that Leopard sightings are actually common in Shamshabad, Yacharam, Moinabad areas and in general in the Sangareddy district. During the summer season, the leopards often venture close to human habitats as they are in search of prey and water. In these areas, it is known to forest officials that the leopards hunt stray dogs as prey.
