The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched two major digital initiatives — the JEEVAN mobile application and the SHATAYU Geriatric Caregiver Dashboard — to strengthen elderly welfare and caregiving support across India. The platforms were launched on 21 May 2026 by Union Minister Virendra Kumar.
The JEEVAN app, which stands for Joint Elderly Empowerment & Virtual Assistance Network, is designed to provide senior citizens with easier access to welfare services, emergency support, healthcare information, and social assistance through a single digital platform.
The application offers details about government welfare schemes, senior citizen homes, emergency services, healthcare support, and tools aimed at improving social inclusion for elderly citizens. The initiative seeks to make elder care more accessible, citizen-friendly, and digitally connected.
Alongside the app, the government also launched the SHATAYU Dashboard, which stands for Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training For Your Utility. The dashboard focuses on strengthening India’s geriatric caregiving ecosystem by supporting caregivers, improving elderly care coordination, and enhancing access to caregiving resources and training.
The initiative comes as India witnesses a growing elderly population and increasing demand for healthcare, social security, and long-term caregiving support. Officials stated that these digital platforms aim to improve the quality of life, dignity, and safety of senior citizens while promoting inclusive welfare delivery through technology.
The launch also aligns with the government’s broader efforts toward digital governance, social welfare expansion, and accessible healthcare services for vulnerable sections of society.
