Samadhan Didi: India Launches AI-Powered Multilingual Chatbot for Citizen Grievance Redressal

The Government of India has launched Samadhan Didi, an AI-enabled multilingual voice chatbot integrated with the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS). Developed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with Bhashini, the platform aims to make grievance filing simpler, faster, and more accessible for citizens across the country.

Samadhan Didi allows users to register complaints by simply speaking in their preferred language. Using artificial intelligence and advanced language-processing technologies, the chatbot understands the grievance, asks follow-up questions when required, identifies the concerned ministry or department, and automatically files the complaint through CPGRAMS. Citizens no longer need to know which government department handles their issue.

A key feature of the platform is its multilingual support. Currently, it supports all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, with plans to include additional regional languages in the future. This ensures that language barriers do not prevent citizens from accessing government services.

The initiative has been described as a major step toward the democratization of public grievance redressal. By combining AI, voice technology, and digital governance, Samadhan Didi aims to improve accessibility, efficiency, and transparency in public service delivery while ensuring secure handling of citizen data.

The launch reflects India’s growing use of artificial intelligence to enhance governance and create a more inclusive and citizen-centric administrative system.
