On July 4, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the country’s highest civilian honour. The award ceremony was held during his historic two-day visit to the Caribbean nation—his first as Prime Minister, and the first Indian PM visit to the country since 1999.
This prestigious honour was conferred in recognition of:
- His global leadership in shaping international policies
- Support for the Indian diaspora, especially in the Caribbean
- Humanitarian aid during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Promotion of India’s culture and values globally
Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, lauded Modi’s commitment to strengthening people-to-people and diplomatic ties. As a gesture of cultural connection, PM Modi gifted a replica of the Ram Mandir and holy water from the Mahakumbh.
Before this visit, Modi was also honoured in Ghana with the Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana for his international cooperation efforts. His five-nation tour reflects India’s growing influence and deepening global partnerships.
