India has achieved a significant milestone in agricultural exports with the first-ever sea shipment of botanical-infused ready-to-cook millet functional foods from Karnataka to New Zealand. Facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the export highlights the growing global demand for value-added millet products and India’s expanding presence in international health food markets.
The one-metric-tonne consignment was exported by Bengaluru-based M/s Infini Agrotek LLP on June 3, 2026. The shipment showcases innovative millet-based foods enriched with botanical ingredients, combining nutritional benefits with functional health advantages that appeal to health-conscious consumers worldwide.
This achievement reflects the success of APEDA’s efforts to promote Indian agricultural products through international trade events such as World Food India 2025, Indus Food 2025, and Gulfood 2026. These platforms helped the exporter connect with global buyers and secure the New Zealand order.
The export is expected to create new opportunities for millet farmers by increasing demand for millet cultivation, encouraging value addition, and strengthening rural employment. It also aligns with India’s efforts to promote millets as sustainable, nutritious crops and expand their global market reach.
The landmark shipment marks a new chapter for India’s millet export sector, reinforcing the country’s position as a leading supplier of innovative and sustainable food products to the world.
