India has extended its support to Venezuela following two powerful earthquakes that struck the South American nation on June 24, 2026, causing significant loss of life and widespread destruction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences to the people of Venezuela and affirmed India’s readiness to provide assistance during this difficult time.
The earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck near Montalbán and Yumare in western Venezuela, with tremors felt across several regions, including the capital city of Caracas. According to initial reports, at least 32 people lost their lives, more than 700 were injured, and several buildings and critical infrastructure suffered extensive damage.
In response to the disaster, Acting President Delcy Rodríguez declared a state of emergency on June 25 to accelerate rescue operations, mobilize resources, and support affected communities.
Expressing solidarity with Venezuela, PM Modi stated that India stands with the people affected by the tragedy and is prepared to offer all possible assistance. The gesture reflects India’s commitment to humanitarian support during international crises.
