India and Israel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in public sector auditing, marking a significant step toward strengthening transparency, accountability, and good governance. The agreement was signed on June 23, 2026, between the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India and the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Israel.
The MoU aims to promote the exchange of professional knowledge, audit methodologies, technical expertise, training opportunities, and best practices in government auditing. It will also facilitate collaboration in areas such as performance auditing, public financial management, and the use of advanced technologies in audit processes.
During the visit, discussions focused on organizing bilateral seminars and professional exchanges in both countries to enhance institutional capacity and share innovative auditing practices. Such initiatives are expected to strengthen cooperation between the two supreme audit institutions and improve public sector oversight.
A key highlight of the engagement was a lecture delivered by Matanyahu Englman, Israel’s State Comptroller and Ombudsman, on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public sector auditing. He emphasized how AI can support data analysis, pattern detection, risk assessment, and performance audits, helping audit institutions become more efficient and effective.
The partnership reflects the growing India-Israel cooperation in governance and institutional development. By fostering knowledge sharing and technological innovation, the MoU is expected to contribute to stronger audit systems, better public expenditure management, and enhanced accountability in both countries.
