Congress Extends Strong Lead in Jubilee Hills Byelection as Early Rounds Show Clear Momentum

The Jubilee Hills Assembly byelection witnessed an intense counting day on November 14, 2025, as officials began tallying votes at the Kotla Vijay Bhaskar Reddy Stadium in Yousufguda, Hyderabad. With stringent security measures in place and access restricted to authorised personnel, the atmosphere remained charged as supporters gathered outside the venue.

By the end of three rounds of counting, the contest — initially neck-and-neck — has now swung decisively in favour of the Congress candidate, Naveen Yadav, who has steadily increased his lead with each passing round.

Strong Start for Congress in Early Rounds

Round 1: A Close Contest

The first round indicated a tight battle:

  • Congress (Naveen Yadav): 8,911
  • BRS (Maganti Sunitha): 8,864
  • BJP (Lankala Deepak Reddy): 2,167
  • NOTA: 99

Naveen Yadav took an early but narrow lead of 47 votes, signalling a competitive race ahead.

Round 2: Lead Expands Significantly

Momentum shifted as Congress widened the gap:

  • Congress: 17,874
  • BRS: 14,879
  • BJP: 3,475
  • NOTA: 189

The lead grew to 2,995 votes, boosting confidence within the Congress camp.

Round 3: Comfortable Lead Established

By the third round, the Congress candidate strengthened his position:

  • Congress: 28,999
  • BRS: 22,987
  • BJP: 5,361

Naveen Yadav now leads by 6,012 votes, a margin that reflects consistent performance across polling booths.

Postal Ballots Add to Congress Advantage

Out of 96 postal ballots, the Congress secured nearly half:

  • Congress: 43
  • BRS: 25
  • BJP: 20

These ballots further reinforced the party’s growing edge in the constituency.

Well-Organised Counting with Tight Security

Inside the stadium, vote-counting was conducted across 42 designated tables, with senior officials overseeing the process. The Election Commission ensured smooth operations, and no major disruptions were reported.

Jubilee Hills Voting Profile

The Jubilee Hills constituency has:

  • Total voters: 4,01,365
    • Male: 2,08,561
    • Female: 1,92,779
    • Others: 25

In the November 11, 2025 byelection:

  • Male votes polled: 99,771
  • Female votes polled: 94,855
  • Others: 5
  • Total votes polled: 1,94,631

Outlook

With each round showing increasing support, Naveen Yadav appears firmly in command, though the final outcome awaits completion of remaining rounds. The byelection, triggered by a vacancy in one of Hyderabad’s most prominent constituencies, has drawn considerable public and political attention.

As counting progresses, the Congress camp remains optimistic, while the BRS and BJP continue to monitor trends closely. Further updates are expected as the Election Commission moves ahead with subsequent rounds.
