In a meaningful interaction aimed at strengthening support systems for persons with disabilities and vulnerable communities, Shashank Pasupuleti, MSME State Head, along with TPCC Legal Cell Coordinator of Telangana, and Prakash Babu, IT Cell Incharge of BJP Telangana, visited the renowned rehabilitation institution Sweekaar Upkaar Foundation in Secunderabad on Thursday.
The delegation met Dr. P. Hanumantha Rao, Chairman of Sweekaar, and Markandeyalu, a senior member associated with the foundation. The meeting focused on discussing initiatives aimed at strengthening support for the beneficiaries of the organization and exploring collaborative efforts to expand rehabilitation and welfare services.

A Legacy of Rehabilitation and Compassion
Founded in 1977, the Sweekaar Upkaar Foundation has grown into one of the most respected rehabilitation institutions in India. The foundation was established by Dr. Hanumantha Rao, a pediatrician and social reformer who dedicated his life to serving children and adults with disabilities.
What began as a small initiative with a handful of children has today evolved into a major rehabilitation center providing multidisciplinary services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, special education, and psychological counseling. The institution also operates the Sweekaar Academy of Rehabilitation Sciences, which trains professionals in various rehabilitation disciplines.
Over the years, the foundation has served lakhs of beneficiaries and has trained thousands of rehabilitation professionals who now work across India and internationally.
Role of Markandeyalu in the Foundation
During the interaction, Markandeyalu, one of the active members associated with Sweekaar Upkaar Foundation, shared insights about the organization’s ongoing activities and the challenges faced in supporting persons with disabilities.
He highlighted the need for stronger community participation, improved infrastructure, and expanded outreach programs to reach more families who require rehabilitation services but lack access to specialized care.
Markandeyalu also emphasized the importance of connecting social service institutions with policy makers, industry leaders, and public representatives to ensure sustainable support for such humanitarian initiatives.

Speaking during the visit, Shashank Pasupuleti, MSME State Head and founder of SK Group Connections, appreciated the decades-long service rendered by Sweekaar Upkaar Foundation in the field of rehabilitation and disability care.
He emphasized that organizations like Sweekaar play a crucial role in building an inclusive society by providing opportunities and dignity to individuals with special needs.
During the meeting, Shashank Pasupuleti discussed potential areas of collaboration including:
