The India Tourism Development Corporation has launched the Tribal Homestay Capacity Building Program 2026 in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The initiative, inaugurated in New Delhi, aims to enhance the skills of tribal homestay owners and integrate tribal regions into India’s mainstream tourism sector.

The program focuses on improving hospitality standards, service quality, and overall tourist experience in tribal areas. It promotes sustainable, community-based tourism while creating employment and income opportunities for local communities.

Training is being conducted by IHM Ashok, the hospitality training arm of ITDC. Participants are equipped with practical skills such as guest handling, hygiene, housekeeping, food preparation, and basic tourism management.

The inaugural batch includes around 40 participants from states like Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Gujarat.

Established in 1966, ITDC has played a key role in developing tourism infrastructure in India. This initiative marks a significant step toward inclusive tourism growth by empowering tribal communities and showcasing their unique culture to the world.
